Magnolia Journal | New Mexico

New Mexico Travel Story photographed for Magnolia Journal. The story sent me to Santa Fe, Albuquerque and Taos, NM. I arrived after an all day journey from Burlington, VT to Los Poblanos Inn and Farm. It was the greatest gift to drive up to the lavender farm, be shown to the most beautiful room and take my time relaxing and eating at their restaurant to prep for a morning photographing the Inn followed by a few hours photographing the bad ass ladies at Spur Line Supply.

From one city to another, I headed straight to Taos to spend my day learning about this quintessential valley town. I drove through the Ojo Caliente soaking in the swift transition from desert to luscious green mountains. Taos was one I kept texting my husband about, emphasizing the beauty, uniqueness and character. I spent time at Hotel Luna Mystica, a unique airstream “resort” putting the glam in glamping. I sped over to downtown Taos, stopping in at the Love Apple just before their opening, delighted to see the simple beauty of Taos the restaurant reflected.

Santa Fe was my last stop, which I savored. From the Georgia O’Keefe museum to the James Beard renowned Cafe Pasqual’s, I couldn’t believe I only had 24 hours here. I packed it all in, starting in the morning and not stopping until I felt like I had covered all my bases shooting at Hotel St. Francis, Radish and Rye, the beautiful Modern General and more.. Each place showed me just how special New Mexico was and by no surprise, by the end of the short three days my belly and soul were filled to the brim. My last day, I spent photographing artists in Santa Fe which was such a treat for my studio art major heart. It was a trip I was so grateful to take and working with the staff at Magnolia made it even more special.

Take a look and pick New Mexico as your next destination, you won’t be disappointed!
